CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program):
Service: State funded program for seniors that provides nonperishable food
once per month for those meeting low-income guidelines. CSFP recipients
automatically qualify for TEFAP, also- see below.

Whether you are looking for a hot meal or help for an aging parent, childcare or an after-school program or summer camp for your child, or virtually any other non-emergency service, 2-1-1 can help. Simply dial 2-1-1 from a landline within Jackson county, or dial (517) 789-1211 from cell phones or outside the county limits. You will be connected to a live operator who is specially trained to search through an up-to-date database of services to locate the best possible information and assistance. 2-1-1 is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year
Eligibility: 60 or older, Jackson resident, income less than 130% poverty.
Distribution and Application: second Thursday each month, 10 AM-2 PM, at
Salvation Army. Bring proof of income and ID to apply.
TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program):
Service: Federal funded program for low-income clients (seniors and non-
seniors) that provides mostly non-perishable food every 3 months. Income
guidelines are not as strict for seniors as for CSFP.
Eligibility: Jackson resident, no age restrictions, and income less than 160%
for seniors, less than 130% for non-seniors.
Distribution and Application: second Thursday of March, June, September,
and December, 10 AM-2 PM, at Salvation Army. Bring proof of income and ID to apply.

Fresh Food Initiative

as available. Bring container.
Distribution site: St. Mary’s parking lot, 116 E. Wesley St.

Eligibility: any age, no income requirements. Just fill out attendance form.

Service: delivers well-balanced meals (no added salt, low in sugar, diabetic-
friendly), 5 hot or frozen per week, to homebound seniors residing in
Jackson county.
Eligibility: 60 or older, resident of Jackson County, and homebound.
Fee: suggested donation of $2.50 per meal

activities available (see “social and recreational” section.) Eight different
locations in county.
